Woo hoo! I’ve figured out what I’m getting my wife for Christmas – Sheer Minerals Makeup. Now that may not seem like a big deal or anything special to you but it was quite the revelation to me.Let me share with you what I mean.

As a typical male I assumed makeup is makeup and I really haven’t paid any attention to what my wife wears or what brand she likes or even what makeup is made of. Yes, truly a typical make! Anyhow, I always left that in her court and never gave it another thought. Until this year. Would you know it, married 20 plus years and now she starts hinting about how nice it would be if I got her some new makeup for Christmas. I felt a deer in the head lights and even though I knew she knew that I was squirming I tried not to let on. I now how much she loves to see me squirm and I didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of admitting I did have a clue what she had been putting on her face all of those years.

A Quick Lesson in Basic Makeup

My first step was to head to the mall and seek out some help. Fortunately the first place I saw was a cosmetics counter right in the middle of the mall. You know one of those little Kiosks where they sell stuff you typically see on TV. I couldn’t believe how friendly and helpful the young ‘Beauty Consultant’ was. She didn’t even laugh at me. But what she did do was give me a great education in what was happening in terms of makeup trends and what was best. I learned that for years women have been using makeup that was bad for them – something I always thought anyways. But that these days there is a new way of looking at makeup and Mineral makeup was definitely the way to go. It’s actually good for her skin and would even be considered healthy. The other thing I learned was that the natural look and using makeup that gave Sheer Coverage was the most important thing.

So, that’s my little – BIG learning lesson this year. Aren’t you glad to know that even a guy in his forties can still learn a thing or two about makeup!
