Russia ended its first weekend of the 2010 FIVB World League with two wins after beating the USA 3-1 (25-14, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21) in their second match on Saturday in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
The hosts made easy work of their opponents and won the first set following some solid blocking and several mistakes from USA.
The USA improved in the second set but a strong fight Russia saw them regain their momentum and to win the set following a number of powerful serves from Maxim Mikhailov.
The visitors came alive in the third set winning it 25-21 before Russia secured the match despite a stubborn fight from USA.
Russian Maxim Mikhailov topped the scores with 23 points while Riley Salmon led the USA with 18 points.
