Power Meter Plus shows a green battery icon displaying the battery level in percent form.

It’s important to monitor the power left on your rechargeable battery, particularly if you’re out and far away from sources of electricity. If you can’t monitor your laptop battery properly, you may fail to save vital data when your portable computer suddenly loses power. This can be pretty inconvenient and frustrating too.

For most Microsoft users, the battery icon appears when you’re solely depending on your rechargeable battery for power. This can be seen at the lower right hand corner; and its appearance changes as power levels change. The icon is green if the charge is above 25%, but it will have a yellow exclamation point once the charge left reaches 25%. Once power gets below 25% or when it reaches low levels, an X mark will be superimposed on the icon. Though these icons are helpful in determining the power level of rechargeable batteries, there are times when these do not exactly state power levels. A faulty battery monitor may display power that’s above 30% but then the computer suddenly shuts down after just a few minutes. This is really inconvenient because users may fail to save important data that they’re working on, believing that they still have more time left. To avoid such circumstances, opt for a better laptop battery monitor. A few popular types are BatteryBar and Power Meter Plus. Apart from displaying current battery levels, BatteryBar also provides information like the remaining power left for battery use and also rate of charging. As for Power Meter Plus, this shows a green battery icon displaying the battery level in percent form. The icon slowly fades as the power of the battery gets drained.

With better laptop battery monitors, users will enjoy more detailed descriptions regarding battery usage and power. So, these are really convenient tools to have because it avoids problems, such as losing work because of one’s failure to save data.
