Flashpacking is a new phenomenon in the travel world today. Basically the idea of flashpacking has originated from the phenomenon of backpacking. The backpackers of early days who spent their nights in cheap budget hostels have switched to flashpacking today. Mostly those who are used to flashpacking gear are the ones who are in their late twenties, early thirties or mid-thirties. These people have had enough experience of traveling all through the world in their young days but as they enter a profession they want to fulfill their passion of traveling the world in a more comfortable manner.
As these young professionals travel the world they opt for hostels which are better than the budget hostels. At the same time these hostels in which they stay are cheaper than the chain of hotels which cater to the need of the general tourists. A lot of new amenities have sprung up to cater to the needs of these groups of flashpackers. For instance several boutique hostels have come up in the recent years. These hostels come with the modern amenities of private rooms and rest rooms. Generally the rooms of these hostels have different themes and are decorated with the local artwork.
It is true that these hostels are costlier than the true budget hostels which were used by the backpackers but at the same time their not extravagantly expensive. This is because it is a fact that the main motive of flashpackers is to spend their means to gain a large variety of experiences. Hence to spend a hefty some on accommodation is a sheer waste for them. It can be said that flashpacking is a very good blend of frugality and comfort. A flashpacker is able to get the minimum comfort at a very affordable price. In other words the boutique hostels that have come up for flashpackers go a little beyond a bed and a bed sheet to sleep.
