Basics of Machine Quilting With Quilting Thread

Many people use machine quilting in order to close seams together. It also provides a quicker and faster method for quilting. Some people might use machines and quilting thread as a form of expression rather than for a particular reason. There are multiple methods that can be used when using a machine to quilt blocks. A combination of threads and materials can be used to create a unique piece of art.

There are two categories that machine quilting falls under; free motion and machine guided. If the person wants to design a quilt that has a lot of straight and slightly bent lines, then they will allow the machine to guide their quilting. For those who want to use free motion, they are planning on making a lot of different graphic patterns that require a lot of different shapes to be formed. There are no set rules when it comes to creating designs. It is all up to the creator. Sometimes, a seamtress will use a lot of straight lines to sew up parts.

Equipment and Supplies Required for Quilting

One of the most important supplies needed for quilting includes a sewing machine and quilting thread. Some machines may require some extra things or accessories in order for the project to come out right. Modern machines come with a quilter that will allow for free motion or guided quilting. For those who will be using more traditional machines, they might have to cover the filter using a buttonhole. They can also cover by using a strap of cardboard. The size of the needle is also important depending on the project. If a needle has a large opening, then it will be easier to contruct a large quilt.

Quilting Thread

There is a large selection of quilting thread that can be used. The best kind is made from rayon, cotton, or metallic thread. This is because they are easier to wash and can be frequently worn.
